The workshop commences on Thursday 1 May at 10am leaving from Hamilton Airport (a pickup is available in Hamilton Central or Hamilton Airport before 10am) for our first destination, Whangamata. Along the way we will check out Karangahake Gorge and Owharoa Falls. We will stay in this area for two nights to explore the southern end of the Coromandel peninsula - including locations around Whangamata, Whiritoa and Waihi Beach.
If the skies are clear, there are a number of fantastic locations to try astrophotography in the evenings.

Our second base for the weekend will be in Whitianga to allow us easy access to a number of stunning and secluded bays, waterfalls and beautiful forest and elevated views. On our trip north we'll check out locations in the Pauanui/Tairua area and other hidden gems before reaching Whitianga. For the next two days, we'll explore this northern arm of the peninsula including Matarangi/Whangapoua, the 309 road and the Opito Bay area.

On our last morning, after sunrise in the area we'll travel back along the western side of the Coromandel which offers stunning views of the coastline before returning to Hamilton by 3pm for any onward travel required.
